Try Something New: Make Money with Your Smartphone

If you’re having no luck making money from your blog/website and feel as though you’ve exhausted all of your online money-making strategies, including affiliate “click-link” marketing, paid advertisement, and online surveys, another option you have is actually turning your handy smartphone for revenue.

There are tons of great Android and iPhone apps that award users with cash prizes and gift cards for completing minor tasks. Participating won’t make you a fortune but they are a relatively easy alternative to making some extra income—and since they’re free to download, it’s worth giving it a shot. The tasks that you are asked to complete may even inspire you to write articles for your blog—especially if you have one that is tailored to traveling, food, reviews etc.

With that said, to learn the top 3 money-making smartphone apps, continue reading below.

Checkpoints

Checkpoints

1. CheckPoints. This app works extremely similar to the popular Foursquare app since it requires users to “check-in” to pre-approved franchises in order to earn points—but users can also acquire additional points by scanning the barcodes of particular pre-approved “items” such as groceries and toiletries with their phone as well.

The rules don’t really explain if you need to purchase the items that you scan in order to obtain the points, but since there is no requirement of proof-of purchase, you may just be able to scan particular items each time you visit a store. Once you earn an “x” amount of points, you are given the opportunity to trade them in and receive gift cards to electronic stores, restaurants and even airlines.

The app is available for both iPhone and Android users.

2. GigWalk. In a nutshell the creators of this app are in the map-making business and pay users to do a lot of the dirty work for them—users are required to verify street names, actually create corporate maps, and ensure that pedestrians will be able to locate businesses simply using images etc. To confirm that everything is accurate and the tasks were actually completed, users are mandated to show proof either via images or video. Rewards are also administered on a point-base system.

This app is only available for iPhone users.

Wereward

3. WeReward. This app, which is also based on a point system, is more or less designed to promote businesses. This is said because it requires users to perform tasks that typically include making purchases at particular restaurants etc.

For example, to earn points the app may instruct users to “take a photo with your quarter pounder cheese burger when you visit McDonalds.” If you have to follow the instructors exactly however—individual business owners have the authority to accept or reject submissions. Each accepted submission equates to one point (one penny).

This app is available for both iPhone and Android users.
